How do I restore a purchase?
In Kept, open Settings → Kept Pro → Restore purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account you used to buy Kept Pro. Kept Pro comes back right away, along with any apps or protected times that were paused on Kept Free.
On a new phone, your streak, freezes, and settings come back from your backup, but Apple doesn't move app picks between phones. Kept will ask you to pick your apps once more.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions, choose Kept, and tap Cancel Subscription. You can also get there from Kept: Settings → Kept Pro → Manage subscription.
You keep Kept Pro until the end of the period you've paid for, then Kept switches to Kept Free. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. The one-time purchase never renews, so there's nothing to cancel.
How do I redeem a code?
In Kept, open Settings → Kept Pro → Redeem a code and enter it on Apple's screen. You can also redeem it in the App Store: tap your account picture, then Redeem Gift Card or Code.
What happens when the trial ends?
Nothing is charged. The 14-day trial is built into Kept and never needs a card. When it ends, Kept switches to Kept Free unless you choose Kept Pro. Kept tells you two days before, on its Home screen. It never sends a notification about the trial.
Kept Free holds limits for 2 apps, 1 protected time, and 1 freeze, and shows the last 7 days of history. If you set up more than that:
- Everything keeps running for 7 more days while you decide.
- Kept asks you to choose which 2 apps and which protected time stay. Your choice applies at midnight, and you can change it until then.
- If you don't choose, Kept keeps the first 2 apps and the first protected time you added.
- The others are paused, not deleted. They're saved in Settings and come back with Kept Pro.
Freezes you've already earned are yours to keep. Older history is saved too, and Kept Pro shows all of it again.
How does the emergency pass work?
During a protected time, your limited apps are off. If you really need one, open Kept and tap Emergency on the Home screen. You get 5 minutes of that app, with no wait.
- You have 3 emergencies each calendar month. The count resets on the 1st.
- Emergency minutes count toward that app's limit for the day, but they never cost your streak.
- The emergency pass is free on every plan.
Outside protected time there's no emergency pass. If an app is done for the day, use a freeze, or tap Need more? in Kept and wait.
How do I turn Kept off?
In Kept, open Settings → Turn Kept off. Every block clears right away and Kept stops watching your apps. Your streak pauses, and your freezes stay. Your apps, limits, and protected times are saved, so when you tap Turn Kept on from the Home screen, everything applies again with nothing to re-enter.
How do I remove Kept completely?
Turn Kept off first, then delete the app. iOS can keep an app blocked after Kept is deleted, so turning Kept off before you delete it clears every block cleanly.
Deleting Kept erases your streak, freezes, and history, since they're stored only on your phone. It doesn't cancel a subscription; see cancelling.
If you already deleted Kept and an app is still blocked, open iOS Settings → Screen Time → Apps with Screen Time Access and turn off Kept. Or reinstall Kept and choose Turn Kept off.
What's the 5-minute warning?
It's a heads-up when an app has about 5 minutes left before its limit. It's off by default. Turn it on in Settings → 5-minute warning, and Kept will ask for permission to send notifications.
It's the only notification Kept ever sends, and it doesn't name the app. If you turned notifications off for Kept, turn them back on in iOS Settings → Notifications → Kept.
A block didn't apply. What should I check?
- Open Kept. It checks its own blocks every time it opens. If the Home screen says Off · Tap to fix, Kept's Screen Time permission was turned off, in Settings or by iOS. Tap it and allow access again.
- Check Screen Time permission. In iOS Settings → Screen Time → Apps with Screen Time Access, make sure Kept is turned on.
- Remember that opening is free. Under its limit, an app opens with no Kept screen. Check-ins come after each block of actual use, not clock time, so leaving an app partway through a block pauses the count.
- Check when a change applies. Raising a limit, or shortening or turning off a protected time, takes effect tomorrow. Lowering a limit, or adding a protected time, applies now.
Still stuck? Open Settings → Diagnostics in Kept, tap Share, and email the log to us. It shows what Kept did and when, with no usage data, and apps appear only as letters.
Does Kept Pro work with Family Sharing?
Yes. Monthly, yearly, and the one-time purchase all support Family Sharing. The person who bought Kept Pro needs purchase sharing turned on in iOS Settings. Other members of the family group then get Kept Pro on their own phones. If it doesn't show up, open Settings → Kept Pro → Restore purchases.
Each person sets their own limits on their own phone. Kept is a self-control aid, not a parental control, and it can't limit someone else's device.
