Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Kept, the iPhone app, handles information. Kept is made by Wade Bruce, doing business as Brucelabs ("we" and "us").

What we collect

Nothing. Kept has no account and no server of its own. It has no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind, and it doesn't use third-party SDKs that collect data. We don't sell or share data, because we don't have any.

What stays on your phone

Your limits, protected times, streak, freezes, history, and settings are stored on your iPhone, in Kept's own storage. They aren't sent to us or to anyone else. If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, this data is included in that backup the same way as other app data, under Apple's terms.

If you delete Kept, this data is deleted with it.

Screen Time

Kept uses Apple's Screen Time framework to limit the apps you pick. Apple handles your Screen Time data, and it never leaves your device through Kept. When you pick apps, Apple gives Kept opaque tokens rather than app names, so Kept can hold a limit on an app without learning what the app is or what you do in it. We can't see which apps you use, how long you use them, or anything you do inside them.

Purchases

Kept Pro is sold through the App Store, and Apple processes every payment. We never see your name, your Apple Account, or your payment details.

To know whether Kept Pro is active, Kept uses Apple's StoreKit on your phone. StoreKit gives Kept anonymous transaction information, such as which product was bought, when, and whether it's still active. Kept uses it only on your phone to unlock Kept Pro. Apple also gives us aggregated sales reports that don't identify you. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Notifications

Kept can send one kind of notification: the optional 5-minute warning before an app reaches its limit. It's off until you turn it on, and Kept asks for notification permission only then. It's a local notification, which means your iPhone schedules and shows it, and nothing is sent over the internet. It doesn't include the app's name.

Diagnostics

Kept keeps a diagnostics log on your phone that records what Kept did and when, such as when a block was applied or lifted. It contains no usage data, and apps appear in it only as letters (A, B, and so on). The log is shared only if you choose to send it, for example by tapping Share in Settings → Diagnostics and emailing it to us.

If you've turned on "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings, Apple may send us crash reports and similar diagnostics. Apple anonymizes these, and you can turn this off at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

If you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply to you, and we don't add you to any list.

Children

Kept is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Kept is a self-control tool for your own phone, not a parental-control app.

Your choices and rights

Because we don't hold any information about you, there's nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete. You control everything Kept stores: you can change it in the app, turn Kept off, or delete the app to remove it. You can also revoke Kept's Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time. If you have a question about your rights where you live, email us and we'll help.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a change affects what Kept collects, we'll say so plainly at the top of this page before it takes effect.
